These terms cover your use of Altigraphs, an open, community-built encyclopedia of cycling climbs. Creating an account or using the site means you agree to them.
You need an account to add climbs, upload photos, or leave notes. You must provide accurate information and are responsible for keeping your password secure. You must be at least 16 years old to register.
Climb data you add — routes, elevation profiles, and notes — is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license (CC BY-SA 4.0), credited to your username, so anyone can reuse and build on it as long as they credit contributors and share alike. Photos you upload for a climb or mountain range are published under the same license. Your account's profile photo is not — it's only used to identify you on the site.
Keep contributions accurate and relevant to the climb, region, or your ride experience. Don't harass or impersonate other riders, post spam, or upload content you don't have the right to share. We may remove content or restrict accounts that don't follow these standards.
Anyone can report a climb or a user for review. Reports are handled by Altigraphs admins, who may edit or remove content, or deactivate accounts that repeatedly break these terms. Deactivating an account disables sign-in — it doesn't remove content already published under CC BY-SA 4.0.
Altigraphs uses MapTiler for maps and location search, Mapbox for route drawing assistance, and Open-Meteo for live weather. These services have their own terms and aren't operated by Altigraphs.
Climb data — grades, distances, gradients, surveyed elevation — is contributed by riders and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Cycling on open roads carries real risk; use your own judgement and local knowledge, and don't rely on Altigraphs as your only source before attempting a climb. The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind.
We may update these terms as the site evolves. The date at the top of this page reflects the last change. Continued use of Altigraphs after an update means you accept the revised terms.
